Governance Council Meetings flyerWHAT IS THE GOVERNANCE COUNCIL?

As an Affiliated Charter School in our community, Topeka Charter provides prospective students an opportunity to attend a California Distinguished School dedicated to the success of each child.

The Governance Council, which manages these policies and procedures, is comprised of elected teachers, parents, and staff representatives. The council participates in decisions regarding curriculum, hiring, budget, enrollment and day-to-day and long-term administrative concerns.

GOVERNANCE COUNCIL MEETINGS

Governance Council meetings are held the first Thursday of the month, at 3:30 pm on Zoom (unless otherwise noted).  Meetings are open to the public, and parents, guardians, and all members of the community are encouraged to attend. Elections are held each fall at the beginning of the school year.

Parents have played a very active role at our school and the success of Topeka Charter will depend upon continuing this tradition. The highly productive collaboration between parents and educators enables us to provide the best, most enriched education possible. While parents are and will be involved in all levels of decision-making at Topeka Charter, their support is essential to help fulfill our promise of an enriched educational experience for all children. Parents attend monthly parent meetings where they elect their own officers and representatives and where they set goals for their participation.

By participating in the process, parents will learn skills related to teaching their children, planning, budgeting, management, analysis and problem solving.

GOVERNANCE COUNCIL COMMITTEE MEETINGS
