Topeka is committed to partnering with parents and families to support every child. We encourage parents to get engaged and stay Informed! Make an Impact! Any active parent participation will make each day a positive experience for our students at Topeka.

The Online Parent Resource Center is here for you. We hope to develop and foster community engagement, provide referrals to community-based services, and give you resources to parent workshops, handouts, and community events. We encourage you to explore the educational system to become better advocates for your children and we will do our best to provide support to help our students and families achieve success.

All parents are welcome to join Mrs. Chavez for Topeka’s last Coffee with the Principal of the year (followed by a parent workshop)! Principal Chavez will share Topeka news, LAUSD announcements and more!

MAKING PREDICTIONS: A READING COMPREHENSION STRATEGY WORKSHOP

Objectives:

To increase our understanding of the reading comprehension strategy making predictions
To use sentence frames and graphic organizers to support student use of this strategy
To participate in learning activities in order to support learning at home

Topeka Parents and Guardians! Join us for our Parent Connect Series where Topeka Parents gather to watch and participate in a Parent/Caregiver Workshop Zoom from LAUSD's School Mental Health Department.

Following the workshop, PSW Michelle Mehrabian will keep the conversation going with Topeka Parents. Ask parenting questions, share parenting stories and listen to advice from other fellow parents and guardians in a safe space.

Caregivers will learn how to support their child with strategies for good mental health basics, identifying stressors and talking about feelings.

Caregivers will learn how to support their child who has experienced a loss. Following the presentation, join other Topeka parents and share your experiences.
